The Lion's paw is the entrance to this top of the sigiriya rock. In ancient times it's said that there were a structure of a full lion. As to enter to the top of the rock fortress , should go through the mouth of the lion in the entrance gate.

A gigantic brick lion once sat at the end of the rock. The final ascent to the summit was between the paws and through its mouth. Today, only the paws remain.
